Lotec is a German company with headquarter in Kolbermoor. It was founded in 1962 by Kurt Lotterschmid. The small company specializes in automotive development, optimization, and modification. Kurt Lotterschmid also ventured into motorsports from 1966 onwards and developed his own racing cars.
In 1975 he participated in the Interserie Championship with a car called LWB 747. Thereafter he entered a Toj Racing car with some success.

In 1981, Lotec build a Lotec 681 with a a 3.5-litre BMW M88 straight-six engine in the back.
It debuted at the fourth round of the 1981 Interserie season, held at the Nürburgring; Lotterschmid ran the car, finishing third overall.
Lotterschmid raced the car again in the next round, at Most, but, whilst running in second place and with a lap to go, the BMW engine blew. Although he was classified second for the first race, he was unable to compete in the second, preventing him from featuring in the overall classification. The series returned to the Nürburgring and Lotterschmid took fourth overall, and third in his class. He finished the season by retiring from the final race, held at Zolder.
The Lotec 681 would not run again, having been made all-but-redundant by rule changes.
Lotec introduced his Group C-spec M1C for the 1982 DRM championship.
In 1985 Lotec entered a Lotec C302 in the 24 heures du Mans.
