Andrea de Adamich and the Alfa Romeo F1 Engine

02/07/2026 - Andrea de Adamich was a talented Formula 1 and endurance driver who became closely linked to Alfa Romeo’s ambitious V8 engine project in the early 1970s. Despite promising beginnings with Ferrari and success in touring cars, his F1 career was hindered by injuries and unreliable machinery. The Alfa-powered McLaren and March cars showed innovation but struggled with performance and reliability, resulting in limited success. In the end, the project became a fascinating but unsuccessful chapter in Formula 1 history.

24h Le Mans finish in 1969

19/03/2026 - Le Mans 1969 ended with an unforgettable duel as Jacky Ickx beat Porsche after 24 hours of racing, decided by just 120 meters.

29/01/2026 - Stewart and Tyrrell’s Matra International team won the 1969 World Drivers and Manufacturers Championships with the superb Matra MS80 Ford. One of the great races that year was the British Grand Prix run at Silverstone.

A site about some history in the car racing history. The first F1 race I saw (on TV) was the GP Germany in 1968; the first 24hours of Le Mans in 1970. The stories come from my own library and gathered infomation all those years.
